China-Myanmar Fashion Show held in Ruili, W Yunnan
The China-Myanmar Fashion Show was unveiled in Ruili, capital of western Yunnan’s Dehong autonomous prefecture of the Dai and Jingpo minorities on Wednesday, December 11.
As one part of the 18th China-Myanmar Border Economic and Trade Fair which is still underway, the show displayed a variety of exquisite and elegant ethnic clothes with modified designs to adapt to modern-day lifestyle.
Dehong, as a prefecture on China’s border with Myanmar, has been concentrating on developing its textile industry for the past few years, and cloth making has already become a key momentum of local economic growth.
The local government believes that this fashion show can not merely demonstrate diversified ethnic cultures and customs in both Yunnan and Myanmar, but consolidate the “Pauk-Phaw”(sibling-like) relationship between their peoples.
