Chengzi ancient village in paintings
Located in southeast Yunnan’s Luxi County, Chengzi is an ancient village with a history of more than 1,000 years.
Tuzhangfang, which literally means earth-made houses, is the most distinctive features of the village. Now the village still has more than 600 well-preservd Tuzhangfang. Vertically and horizontally, all of the houses are connected with each other. Housetops of the front families are courtyards of those in the back. At the same height, housetops stretch tens or hundreds of meters long, forming large platforms.
Chengzi is a traditional Yi village. Situated on a hillside, it looks like a castle if you see from afar. In recent years, the village becomes more and more popular after some shutterbugs visited it. Many photos have gone viral online, attracting swarms of tourists to Chengzi.
Among them, there are painters who stayed there for a few days and told the stories of Chengzi in their beautiful and lifelike works. Today, let’s enjoy their paintings.
