E-commerce helps Yunnan products “go global”
High-quality coffee, flowers, tea and medicine are famed and representative products of Yunnan province. Recently a symposium held recently in Kunming, the provincial capital, discussed how to utilize e-commerce platform to promote Yunnan featured products.
For He Xiangpeng, one of the board members of Xinhua Sliver, e-commerce platform is a new marketing channel. He said new ideas are needed in promoting the combination of on-line and off-line services.
“What Yunnan needs is the new sales model to promote the popularity of its products nationwide,” said Wang Yuhan, general manager of Yunnan True Color Cloud Product E-commerce Company (YTCCPEC), adding that his company plans to offer new experiences for buyers by taking the advantages of e-commerce.
“Yunnan is endowed with abundant intangible cultural heritage resources, but people mainly get to know these resources by attending expos. I hope new promoting methods like e-commerce will acquaint more people with these heritages and relevant products,” said Yin Jiayu, director of Yunnan Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center.
Ding Lanying is the general manager of Nanhua Yi Embroidery Factory. In her opinion, the e-commerce platform is conducive to poverty relief. “E-commerce has broadened our marketing channels and now our products are sold to Japan, Australia, France and the US. This has helped increase revenue of more villagers of Yi ethnic group,” she said. (Trans-editing by Li Hengqiang)
