Recently, a group of aerial photos show the amazing and unique scenery of the Zhiju Village in Yongren County, southwest China’s Yunnan Province. As a Yi people’s village, Zhiju boasts a long history and is rich in ethnic cultures. On the 15th day of the first lunar month of every year, Zhiju villagers celebrate the Costume Competition Festival. Started 1,353 years ago, the festival is regarded as the most ancient “Village Catwalk Show” in China. When the day comes, Yi people dress themselves in meticulously stitched clothes and invite friends to the central square of the village to participate in various activities. By holding the festival, Yi people show the happiness of their life and pray for better life. In recent years, with the improvement of infrastructure and communication, local people are developing countryside tourism based on the traditions and customs, and trying to revitalize the village.
