Lin Caixi, captain of Yunnan Mountain Rescue Team, is nicknamed Xizi by acquaintances. When we met Xizi on April 17, he was training in simulation rescue.

Recent years has seen the rise of outdoor sports such as mountaineering, cross-country marathon, rock climbing, prompt drop, camping, and others. In the activities, accidents are inevitable to some extent, and these include falls, lack of oxygen, and getting lost in the jungle.

Whenever an accident occurred, Xizi and his teammates would come to the rescue of the stuck players as fast as possible.

At first, Xizi joined the rescue team out of his love to outdoor sports. As time goes by, he realized accidents did persist, and some even happened to his friends.

By joining in the rescue team, Xizi aims to do his best to cut accidents and offer help to those in trouble.

So far, they have rescued 30 plus athletes, who suffered from anoxia, altitude sickness, weakness, or faint.

In each rescue, Xizi worried about other possible risks or failures in the process, but he was also fulfilled in each successful operation.

Yunnan Mountain Rescue Team has 60 members now. To be a member, one needs to pass physical fitness tests in 5km running, sit-ups, pull-ups, and more.

Xizi said all members volunteered to join the rescue, and they use their own money in running the rescue team.

Coming from various walks of life, they made good use of their professional skills. For example, Xizi is good at mountaineering, so he belongs to the searching squad.

Some members are health workers, who set up the medical squad to offer first aid to climbers in danger.

The IT elites in the team set up a technology panel, providing technical support in rescuing the stranded climbers.

To Xizi, each rescue operation is urgent and risky, where uncertainties and difficulties abound.

Through rescues, Xizi hopes to perfect his skills in mountaineering and continue his mission as a rescuer.
