Tourists date fireflies in Xishuangbanna

Fireflies belong to the lampyridae family with more than 2,000 described species that normally live in humid areas of the temperate and tropical zones. 

Their luminous bodies and light figures have triggered much human imagination throughout history. 

According to current research, fireflies glow for three main purposes: mate selection, warning and communication.
