Yunnan medical experts return from Laos, mission finished
Representing the Chinese side, 12 Yunnan medical experts aiding Laos in the fight against Covid-19 returned to the provincial capital of Kunming on April 12, after finishing their mission there.
The professional team selected from Yunnan was established by the National Health Commission of China. They arrived in Laos' capital city Vientiane on March 29, with around 593,000 U.S. dollars worth of anti-epidemic medical supplies donated to Laos.
“During their 15 days in Laos, the experts offered over 20 trainings in 30 plus hospitals, laboratories, ports and airports across the country,” said Huang Xingli, the team leader. “And they exchanged views with their Laotian counterparts on the Covid-19 diagnosis and treatment procedures and related prevention and control experience.”
The medical team visited the Lao localities of Vientiane, Champasak, Luang Prabang and others, providing technical guidance and advisory services on epidemic prevention to Chinese-funded enterprises, overseas Chinese and Chinese students in Laos.
Also, the Yunnan medics have helped Laos improve 3 plans, 3 guides and 14 managing systems for Covid-19 control and prevention. Laos has adopted the suggestions from the Chinese medical team, winning its battle against the epidemic.
