Ma’andi in south Yunnan welcomes butterfly tide

Ma’andi Township, which is called the Chinese butterfly valley, welcomed a big tide of over 100 million butterflies in early June. The township is located in Jinping County of south Yunnan’s Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture.

The butterflies flying about have invited in a large number of tourists for sightseeing. The tourists watched the beautiful butterflies, photographed them and took photos with them, forming a spectacular sight.

Of the 12 butterfly families in China, 11 can be found in Ma’andi Township. The 270 plus butterfly species here include the stichophthalma louisa, the neorina patria, the kallima inachus, and others. Among them, the stichophthalma louisa is the dominating group.
