Yuxi’s Podie, a magic place

Podie village is located in east Yuxi’s luoma Mountain in central Yunnan province, where Xiaohedi and Yuanjiang rivers converge.

It is a beautiful village lived by the Yi ethic minority group of Yunnan, and the natural settings there have been kept the same for many years.

The entire village was built by mountains and lakes. Residences constructed by yellow bricks, along with crystal-clear water, have literally turned the landscape there into an oil painting.

This special form of residence, known as Tuzhang house, has long been hailed as a “living fossil” of architecture.

Folk cultures of the Yi people have been passed for generations, and visitors can genuinely have a taste of their unique lifestyle here.

In 2013, Podie was selected by national authorities as one of China’s “Most Traditional Villages”. And later in 2019, it was named “Typical Ethnic Village of China.”
