Recent online pictures show villagers pick and process tea leaves in Dixu Township of Guangnan County, southeast Yunnan’s Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

Consisting of 126 villager groups, the township is home to the Han, Zhuang, Miao, Yao, Yi, and Hui ethnic groups. In their effort against poverty, local authority joined hands with companies, set up agro-cooperatives and issued preferential policies for tea farmers.

As of now, around 11,000 hectares of land in the township is used for tea growing. Of the 858 poverty-stricken households, 271 have each increased thier annual income by over 10,000 yuan, with 456 increasing by 20,000 yuan via tea growing.
