Incredible, Yunnan woman has 3.12-meter-long hair

Have you ever seen a single hair braid as long as over three meters? In a mountainous ethnic village of Qiubei County, southeast Yunnan’s Wenshan, a Miao woman’s hair has grown to an incredible length of 3.12 meters, and is thus called “long-hair lady” by locals. 

Gu Meiying, aged 64 this year, lives in the Erdaogou natural village, Badaoshao Township. Starting at the age of 24, Gu has refused to have her hair cut. Now her braid can circle her head 6.5 times or wind around her waist 4.5 times. 

“Following the first birth to my baby 40 years ago, I was busy with farming and housework and ignored my hair for quite a while. As time went by, the hair grew much longer,” said Gu. 

Each time she washes it, it takes a week to dry. Someone offered 19,000 yuan to buy her braid, but Gu was not willing to sell it. The farmer believes that her hair is connected to her life and maintaining it will help her live longer. Gu’s hair is still growing, and she is not sure how long it can grow to be.
