Kunming Botanical Garden in Kunming City in southwest China's Yunnan Province has seen great success in rehoming rare plant species.
The 51 species involved are all considered endangered with extremely small populations in their original habitats. Having been relocated to the botanical garden where they will receive constant care, the plants, including the Yunnan Craigia, Cathaya argyrophylla Chun & Kuang and Camellia azalea C.F.Wei, are beginning to thrive and produce blossoms and fruits.
According to the staff of the garden, rehoming enables them to better preserve the plants and carry out further observation on why they have become endangered.
