With fog and clouds hovering in the sky, the Grand Canyon of the Nujiang River, also called the Salween, presents a dreamy sight in the cool mid-autumn days.
Originating from the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau, the rushing river runs through western Yunnan, enters Myanmar from the prefecture of Dehong and finally empties into the Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean.
In northwest Yunnan, the V-shaped Nujiang valley is a paradise for backpackers to trek through and get close to the pristine waters and lush plants. Also, a canoeing event is held annually these years for international kayaking lovers.
