Yunnan's foreign trade up 15.4 percent in 2020
Yunnan's foreign trade grew by 15.4 percent, year on year, to reach 268.04 billion yuan (around 41.42 billion U.S. dollars) last year, Kunming Customs said on February 4.
Exports in the province increased by 46.4 percent to 151.88 billion yuan, while total imports reached 116.16 billion yuan, a decrease of 9.7 percent year on year.
The province's foreign trade with the ASEAN members and the Belt and Road countries grew by 7.6 percent and 3.2 percent year on year, to reach 123.01 billion yuan and 168.09 billion yuan respectively. Provincial trade with the US and the EU also saw substantial rise.
Yunnan exports of mechanical and electrical products jumped by 60 percent, year on year, to 50.61 billion yuan last year. Exports of labor intensive products and agro-products rose by 168.8 percent and 8.9 percent.
Private enterprises contributed 153.18 billion yuan in provincial foreign trade, increasing by 39.6 percent.
Kunming, Honghe and Dehong, where the pilot free trade areas and bonded zones are located, played key roles in boosting Yunnan’s foreign trade.
