The week-long Spring Festival (also known as the Chinese New Year) holiday of China has ended today on February 18.

According to the statistics published by Alipay, a mainstream mobile and online payment platform run by the Alibaba Group, consumption in relation to online communication and entertainment has seen a marked growth between February 11 and 17 across the country.

In Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province, fresh flowers have long been a popular gift for this traditional holiday, and this year is no exception.

The sales of food and gift boxes specifically designed for the Spring Festival, unsurprisingly, saw a spike, too.

Places like cinemas, city parks and bookstores were among the most popular venues that citizens chose to visit.

And as popular shopping destinations, Tongde Kunming Plaza, Shunchen Plaza and Spring City 66 welcomed swarms of consumers during the holiday.
