More than 600 migrant workers from 13 cities and 139 towns in Yunnan province returned to work with the help of a free train on Saturday. They were a few of the more than 1 million workers — who had left their workplaces and traveled home to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year — that Yunnan wants to help return by the end of March.
The train departed from Kunming South Railway Station at 12:09 pm, carrying the workers to destinations in Guangdong province. It is cooperatively operated by the Yunnan and Guangdong human resources and social security departments.
From Feb 14 through Saturday, Yunnan provided 12 flights, 15 trains and 1,048 buses to transport 185,000 rural workers back to the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions.
