800,000 Chinese COVID-19 vaccines reach Vientiane

800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines donated by the Chinese government and army arrived at the Vientiane Wattay International Airport in Laos on March 31.

The ensuing handover ceremony was attended by the Lao premier Phankham Viphavanh, Lao defense minister Chansamone Chanyalath, Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong and more.

“For the implementation of President Xi Jinping's important declaration on making China's COVID-19 vaccine a global public good, with the approval of the Central Military Commission and at the request of Lao military, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has provided anti-pandemic assistance to Lao Armed Forces with a batch of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to the Lao side on March 31,” said the Chinese Ministry of National Defense on its website.
