During the Qingming festival from April 3 to 5, Yunnan province welcomed a total of 8.266 million visitors, an increase of 6% compared with that in 2019, said the provincial department of culture and tourism.

More than 60% of Yunnan residents traveled, leading a surge in road, rail and air traffics. 9 prefectures/cities, including Kunming, Lijiang and Lincang, also saw significant increases in visitor numbers.

With the high-speed trains being put into operation, Lincang enjoyed big increases in numbers of returnees and tourists in the province.

Kunming saw the most visitors with the number of 2.116 million, and local residents contributed the bulk of the growth in visitor number.

For the purpose of Covid-19 prevention and control, tourist attractions and cultural businesses in Yunnan were required to set reasonable upper limits for visitor reception and implement the ticket reservation system.
