Kunming area issues 1st Type-C work permit to Indian
The Kunming area of the Yunnan pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) issued its first Type-C work permit to a male Indian on April 6.
With a CR-code printed at the lower right corner, the work permit shows the owner's profile, name, gender, nationality, ID number and others, but the worker's employer name and passport number can only be accessed by scanning the CR-code.
China’s new work permit system for foreigners was rolled out nationwide in 2016. The new system has introduced a three-tier talent grading system for expatriates. Expats are placed in either Tier A, B, or C, depending on the number of points they earned under the point scoring system.
Since then, the Kunming area of Yunnan pilot FTZ has been opening a green channel for foreigners to apply for work permits online, and applicants can also contact the pilot FTZ area via phone calls, e-mails and WeChat networks. All aim to provide the one-stop service for expats willing to work in the area.
