Lamps illuminate Dulong town in NW Yunnan

Updated:2021-04-19 20:39:46

Near the China-Myanmar border section in northwest Yunnan's Nujiang prefecture, the ancient and mysterious Dulong people have lived in the mountains on the bank of Dulong River for generations.

Their hometown of the Dulongjiang area is full of ravines and gullies. The stretching mountains used to isolate the access for the Dulong people to access the outside world, which also cut the ‘throat’ of local economic and social development.

To improve the underdeveloped infrastructures including electricity in Dulongjiang Township, the China Southern Power Grid Company has, for years, invested 170 million yuan in developing the power-supply facilities in the remote area.

With other persistent efforts in poverty-elimination by locals, this area which used to be locked down and fallen behind has bettered off. Now, the newly-built roads are coupled with modern lamps, and all the households are illuminated electricity-saving bulbs when darkness falls.
