Yunnan welcomes 17.83 million visitors during holiday

Yunnan province welcomed 17,838,000 visitors during the just-concluded five-day May Day holiday, an increase of 119.7 percent year on year, said the provincial department of culture and tourism.

Arrivals at the traditional tourist hotspots of Xishuangbanna, Kunming, Dali and Lijiang grew by 75 percent year on year. Kunming stood out among Yunnan destinations, receiving 5.191 million visitors.

Statistics from the Go-Yunnan app showed that intra-provincial visitors made up 67.1 percent of the trips, representing a 1.8-percent growth year on year.

Drive tours formed a new trend in the holiday, and a 332-percent growth was seen in Zhaotong. Most of the leisure activities were conducted in rural areas.
