Int’l journalists amazed by development in Kunming
During the on-going international media tour in Yunnan, reporters said they were amazed by what they saw in the provincial capital of Kunming, and they also came across something cordial and unexpected.
“Great! Kunming flowers are sold to my country.”
On May 17, the reporters visited the Kunming International Flora Auction and Trading Center (KIFA).
And they were impressed by the bustling scenes: arrays of flowers are placed in the logistic area for transport and flower merchants are auditing at the business hall.
At the information that around 3,000,000 to 4,000,000 flowers are traded here in a single day,the reporters were amazed. Last year, the trade volume at the trading center was approximately 1.5 billion yuan.
“I’ve been told of the Kunming flower market, but I didn’t know the flowers are also sold to Russia until this visit,” said Polina Silicheva, a Russian reporter at the Hainan International Communication Center.
“I hope that Thailand-China exchanges will be increased, so that more Thai flowers can enter China to decorate life of more people,” said JARUWAN UDOMSAB, a Thai online celebrity.
“Cordial! The staff can speak Thai.”
On the morning May 18, the international reporters visited the Kunming area of China (Yunnan) pilot Free Trade Zone, looking into its over-all service center.
They focused on the 24-hour self service area and they spoke highly of the easy and fast services at the pilot FTZ.
“Here, I came across some staff members who can speak Thai. And this shows the service center care for businesses and merchants from Thailand and other countries,” observed JARUWAN UDOMSAB.
“Via my news coverage, I hope more Laotians will know about Yunnan’s opening-up and I’ll recommend some Lao businesses to invest in Yunnan,” said PHOMMOUNY PHETSAMONE, a correspondent with the Pathet Lao News Agency.
“It’s a miracle!”
In the afternoon, the reporters arrived at the Kunming Yunnei Power Co., Ltd.
They looked into the smart production line in automatic operation. Engines spare parts moved on the conveyer belt with a constant speed, and robots assembled the engine parts with accuracy.
“Sounds of the machines at the workshop rise and fall, but few people are in sight. This is an indicator of high-tech,” said one reporter.
“Given the Covid-19 infliction, I’m impressed that the engine output has reached a record high in recent 10 years,” said another reporter. “It’s a miracle!”
In summing up the visits and inquires, the international reporters frequently used the following words: smart, light, environment-friendly and innovative.
