Kunming airport transfers most passengers among its Chinese peers
In the first four months this year, the Kunming Changshui International Airport has transferred 2,170,000 passengers, or 19 percent of the total 11,700,000 passengers served by the air facility, ranking first among the Chinese airports.
Yunnan Airport Group has upgraded its transferring services for passengers this year. Starting on May 1, passengers taking the flights of China Eastern Airlines can be domestically transferred at a minimum of 60 minutes at Kunming airport. Starting on October 1, passengers taking other flights will be transferred at a minimum of 75 minutes at the airport, in comparison to the current 90-minute minimum.
The luggage service also improved. Now 90 percent of the intra-provincial packages via the Kunming airport are directly delivered, and the coverage will reach 100 percent by the end of July. The Kunming airport also began implementing the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system on April 23, making it the pioneering Chinese airport in luggage data collection.
