Yunnan rolls out earthquake early warning app

By joining hands with China Broadcasting Network Cooperation, China Mobile and China Telecom, Yunnan Earthquake Agency has rolled out the earthquake early warning system in the form of an app that is available at the TV set-top box of the three Chinese telecom giants.

The “Yunnan quake warning” app can provide users early warnings in a matter of seconds at the quake occurrence, so that the residents’ panic can be rid of and injuries and casualties will be minimized.

During the May 21 earthquake that happened in west Yunnan’s Yangbi county with an magnitude of 6.4, the app sent 43 early warnings to local residents, conducive to timely quake prevention and disaster reduction.
