Updated:2021-09-14 18:14:28

Infrared cameras captured images of the dhole, a rare animal, at Taiyanghe Nature Reserve in Southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er City on Sept. 10.

The dhole is listed as a Class I protected species in China. It is hailed as one of the four fierce beasts in the country (the other three being wolf, tiger and panther).

Yang Gang, head of the reserve's administration department, said it was the first time to discover dholes in Taiyanghe Reserve, which provides a good habitat for rare species.
