Today,The Kunming Declaration was adopted at the ongoing 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) .

The Kunming Declaration commits to ensuring the formulation, adoption and implementation of an effective post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework to reverse the current loss of biodiversity and ensure that biodiversity is on the path to recovery by 2030 at the latest, so as to fully meet the 2050 vision of living in harmony with nature.

The declaration will send a powerful signal, showing the world the political determination to protect global biodiversity!

This requires global cooperation to start a new journey of high-quality development through the construction of ecological civilization.

Since the COP15 opened in Kunming on October 11,

Our reporters have interviewed some attending foreign ambassadors to China.

They believe that

It's a right path to build a homeland with harmonious coexistence between man and nature through green transformation, so as to achieve the goal of global biodiversity conservation.

Fernando Lugris,Uruguayan Ambassador to China

Achieving the Sustainable Goals together

A few months ago, I met with the leaders of the Yunnan Provincial Government, exchanging views on strengthening cooperation in agriculture, sports, cultural tourism and other fields.

Every time I come to Yunnan, I am amazed at the richness of biodiversity here.

We just passed the "Kunming Declaration" this afternoon.

I believe that China, especially Yunnan will play an important role in the conservation and restoration of biodiversity. Achieving sustainable development goals requires our joint action.

Signe Brudeset,Norwegian Ambassador to China

Eco-protection has no land border

Norway and China have built a good partnership on carbon emissions trading, emissions reductions from heavy duty vehicles and ocean management.

COP15 will promote the ‘South-South Cooperation’ of biodiversity conservation to a large extent.

In the past, many regions of the world have experienced an era of pursuing economic growth. If we sacrifice the environment in exchange for economic benefits, environmental damage will also affect the quality of economic growth.

Nature had made a lot of ‘compromises’ for us.Now, It’s our turn to jointly protect the earth.

Laurent Bili,French Ambassador to China

More momentum being generated for tackling global climate change

China is rich in biodiversity.Over the past ten years, it has strengthened biodiversity protection, generating more momentum for tackling global climate change.

Laurent Bili has visited Xishuangbanna and Pu'er, southwest China’s Yunnan province.

Yunnan can take a lead in biodiversity conversation by carrying out various projects.

Mahbub Uz Zaman, Ambassador of Bangladesh to China

Deepen the biodiversity cooperation between each other

As a developing country,Bangladesh faces greater challenges in the field of biodiversity conservation.

China's exploration and practice are worth learning.

This is his first time to Yunnan. He wishes he could come to this adorable province earlier.

Bangladesh and Yunnan are not far from each other. It takes two hours and a half by plane. Many Bangladeshis like coming to Yunnan for tourism.

Both sides are rich in biodiversity and we can cooperate in this field.

The two sides can also further cooperate in people-to-people exchanges.

Thomas Østrup Møller, Danish Ambassador to China

Kunming,see you next time

From the story of elephants migrating northward and returning to their habitats safely in Yunnan,Thomas Østrup Møller felt China's green development approach of respecting and protecting nature.

This is his first time to Kunming. The city is full of floral displays which are ingeniously designed.Kunming is really a beautiful "Spring City".

Kunming,see you next time!

Marie-Pascale Boisson, Monaco Ambassador to China

People in ancient Yunnan bore in mind the concept of recycling

Besides the Dianchi Lake and Fuxian Lake, Shell Mound relics of the Neolithic Age were unearthed.

In the exhibition area of Yunnan Provincial Museum,Marie-Pascale Boisson was curious that

in the Neolithic Age, how people living by the Dianchi Lake turned food residues into building materials? What kind of crops did they plant?

The exhibition staff member told her at that time, fishing was one of the main activities in the Dianchi Lake region.

After eating flesh of snails, people used the shells to build houses on the Luoshi Hill(or Snail-shaped Hill). They also grew different crops according to the change of seasons.

She marveled

Thousands of years ago, people in Yunnan had already knew how to live in harmony with nature.Amazing!
