A total of six locally confirmed cases have been reported in the latest Covid resurgence in southwest China’s Yunnan province from December 24 to 27, according to local health authority.

Five cases were confirmed in central Yunnan’s Kunming city, and another case in south Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna prefecture this afternoon, said Yunnan Provincial Health Commission.

The community in Kunming’s Chenggong district where the initial four cases were found has been locked down since Dec. 24. At present, necessities for residents in the enclosed area are delivered timely.

The fifth Kunming patient, who was confirmed on the morning of Dec. 27, went to Xishuangbanna before. Now widespread nucleic acid tests are concurrently going on in the two places.

And the sixth case, a traveler from Guangzhou, was confirmed in Xishuangbanna’s Jinghong city on Dec. 27 afternoon.

In response to the outbreak, Yunnan has suspended cross-provincial tours starting on December 25. Public facilities such as theaters are closed for the time being.
