Dali potter makes pottery zoetic
Does pottery have life or soul? Craftsman Su Longxiang, a native of the Fengyi town in west Yunnan’s Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, shaped his pottery works with his magic hands on Aug. 18.
In his workshop, all kinds of clay figurines were displayed, such as Wamao (tile cats), Bai people in ethnic costumes and characters from Chinese legends.
In Su's eyes, everything can be shaped, and everything has a soul. Through mashing, fermenting, kneading and painting, Su allowed ordinary clay to become figurines with life and soul.
"I observe details of everyday life. When I make pottery, I shape them with my heart,” said Su. That’s why his works are vivid and expressive.
