Feast made for visitors at Wild Elephant Valley
With the hot international attention from China and abroad, the herd of migrant elephants is making a long journey away from home to the north. What do these jumbos eat? Today, let’s go to Wild Elephant Valley in Xishangbanna to find out.
In order to make visitors and the public better understand the food culture of elephants and care for the ecological home of elephants, Wild Elephant Valley specially launched a unique "elephant meal".
The Wild Elephant Valley is in the north of 22 km away from of Jinghong City, south Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. It covers an area of 450 hectares.
It is located in Xishuangbanna national nature reserve where 150 wild Asian elephants live. The number of the wild Asian elephants in China is also more than 300.
The "Elephant Food" is based on the fruits and vegetables that Asian elephants like most, processed according to people's eating habits, and made into an ecological and healthy gourmet feast.
