September is the best time to eat ginkgo nuts in the Ginkgo village of Southwest Yunnan’s Tengchong city.
Locals call the ginkgo nut a “jade fruit” because it is green inside, nutritional and healthy.
Ginkgo is mild in nature, sweet and bitter in taste. In Tengchong, ginkgo trees grow well and the nut is soft and sweet, thanks to the land rich in volcanic ashes.
The tasty ginkgo nuts can be cooked in different ways for dishes, each stirring the taste bud.
