Orange trees help households in SE Yunnan shake off poverty

Photos taken by Xinhua recently show that Li Lanfen and her husband Shi Chunhai are busy with picking up oranges in their orchard in Heshang'an, a village in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, southeast Yunnan province.
Under the economic and technical supports of the local government, Li Lanfen's family has grown 50 mu (approximately 3.3 hectares) of oranges in recent years.
In 2020, the income of her family from orange cultivation exceeded 300,000 yuan (about 46,000 US dollars).
According to local statistics, as many as 78,000 mu (around 5,200 hectares) of orange trees have been planted in the area where Li and Shi live so far, with an annual output value of 350 million yuan (roughly 54 million US dollars).
