Six police vessels departed from the Lancang-Mekong ports in China, Laos and Myanmar on March 23, kicking off the 103rd joint patrol on the vital waterway for cross-border shipping.

Before the patrol, police officers from the four countries of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand held a conference discussing the security situation on the international river and they jointly set forth the agenda.

In view of the recent situation, law-enforcement authorities of the neighboring countries aimed to crack down on drug-related crimes and other illegal cross-border activities in the river basin.
