Qujing expected to be sub-center of Yunnan province
Yunnan provincial leaders stressed Qujing city’s role as the sub-center of the province second only to Kunming and a leading city in the central Yunnan area at a work meeting on April 8.
Having inspected the major enterprises in the morning, Yunnan Party chief Ruan Chengfa said Qujing needs to follow the latest trend of sciences to master cutting-edge technologies and achieve sustained growth, adding smarter urban management can better service the public.
In the coming 5 to 15 years, the east Yunnan city of Qujing will focus on clean energy and high-end manufacturing such as photovoltaic power and aluminium industries, instead of being a traditional exporter of raw materials.
Ruan noted Qujing can be a world-class home for green-food brands that consist of first-rate companies in meat and grain processing and emerging areas for fruit and vegetable production.
Yunnan governor Wang Yubo said the city should contribute more to provincial industrialization in terms of organosilicone material, new-energy battery and aluminum processing.
Wang added Qujing needs to better integrate into other central Yunnan cities and strives to be another height of Yunnan’s digitalization drive.
