Rested on its advantageous resources, Eshan county in central Yunnan’s Yuxi city has seen quickened industrial development in recent years.

From 2005 to 2018, industries’ contribution to local economy has increased from 36.1% to 41.2%, and Eshan’s GDP exceeded 10 billion yuan in the year 2019.

Earlier this year, the county has chosen mine metallurgy, new materials and highland agriculture as local pillar industries, while quickening the development of advanced equipment manufacturing and distinct food processing. Logistics, digital economy and cultural tourism will be the emerging industries in the county.

“Eshan is rich in magnetic iron ore and with our capital and technologies we aim to produce 500,000 tons of refined iron ore this year,” said Chen Yingye, general manager of the Eshan-based Weiheng Mining Company Limited.

Having acquired the Tongming mining company in September 2020, Weiheng invested 40 million yuan in technological upgrade to achieve an output of 700 million yuan this year.

Guo Jianxue, general manager of the Eshan-based Huofa Machinery Manufacturing Company, said they will produce 21,000 tons of machine-tool castings to achieve a sale of 142 million yuan, adding some casting orders came from Japan and east China’s Jiangsu province.

Settled in Eshan since 2019, Huali Auto has achieved an annual output of 200 million yuan, and it will build up 4 brand new assembly lines, fulfilling a yearly production of 3,500 semitrailers.

In the 14th Five-Year period (2021-2025), the county aims to achieve a 25% growth in industrial added value year on year, with the outputs of iron, steel and other industrial products increasing substantially.
