More than 60 common cranes were recently observed wintering in Baoshan city, west Yunnan province.Flying in the farmland for food and soaring high in the herringbone pattern, the migrant birds have brought vitality to Baoshan in winter. Common cranes are under second-class state protection in China. They are large birds with thin legs and long necks. The cranes feature black forehead with a bare red crown, and a white streak extends from the eyes to the upper back. They mostly live in plains, grasslands, and swamps.Source: Xinhua; Trans-editing by Yang Xuan
