Wild elephant visits county town, monitored by UAV

A wild elephant intruded into the Mengla county town in south Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna prefecture on April 19, and it is the second time that the town has seen a wild elephant since August 2019.

At around 9:00 pm, the elephant came to the Water-Sprinkling Square from a nearby bush, and then strolled along the Nanla River for food till 4:20 am. It finally vanished in a nature reserve.

Thanks to the information in advance, the Mengla forest police deployed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to closely monitor its activity, and residents nearby were thus timely informed and evacuated.
