Phayre's leaf monkey is covered with silver-gray hair and has a pair of blue eyes.
It is the first-class protected animal in China and has been listed as Endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
They were spotted in Mangshi, west Yunnan's Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture in January, 2018 by Zheng Shanhe, a nature photographer.
A total of about 320 Phayre's leaf monkeys here formed the largest population of this species in a single region in China, according to an official report released in May, 2018.
As a well-behaved species, the Phayre's leaf monkeys barely destroy crops, said Zheng.
