C86 Park, new landmark of cultural activities in Kunming
With red brick walls and glass vaults, the former Yunnan TV Factory on East Dongfeng Road in Kunming, Yunnan province, was changed into a building with an retro feeling and modern style. It is named C86 cultural & creative industrial park, a new cultural landmark integrating offices, bookshop, entertaining and catering.
With a plain and sort of Japanese style in decorations, the C&F bookstore in the park has gained popularity among youngsters in Kunming. By displaying books from home and abroad and holding cultural activities with its international business partners, the bookstore satisfies both adults and children alike.
The bookstore maintains contacts with the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, the Bologna Children's Book Fair, the IBBY Children's Book Alliance and others.
There is also a museum, with themes of its exhibitions changing twice a year. Currently, a nature-themed exhibition is going on, displaying dinosaurs, aerospace technologies, and carbon neutral actions.
“The park has favorable policies for cultural enterprises. For example, we provide meeting space and office facilities for settled enterprises,” said Cheng Yuntao, marketing director of the C86 park. “Meanwhile, we established a 100,000-yuan fund to support cultural activities in the park.”
Up to now, 34 cultural enterprises have settled in C86 and more than 4,000 jobs have been created, 70% of which belong to cultural positions.
