World Wild Life Day: An invitation of the coming COP15
Yesterday, March 3, was the 8th UN World Wild Life Day.
Themed “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustainable People and Planet”, this year’s World Wild Life Day highlights the roles of forests, forests species and ecosystems services in sustaining the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people globally, and particularly of indigenous and local communities with historic ties to forest and forest-adjacent areas.
By the end of 2020, the area of forests in Yunnan province had reached 424 million mu (around 28.27 million hectares).
Meanwhile, the forest growing stock and forest coverage rate had been raised to 2.07 billion cubic meters and 65.04 percent, respectively.
It's fair to say that the province has become greener than ever.
This year, the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15) will take place in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province.
This short video above is an invitation for you to join us to appreciate the beauty and biodiversity of Yunnan, which has been widely known as the Kingdom of Flora and Fauna.
