"In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous." This is a quote by Aristotle.
So what do you think are the esthetic values of biodiversity?
In the seventh talk, we have Fan Yi, a visual specialist in Chinese biodiversity photography. Let’s listen to his experiences in recording the species, while discovering the aesthetic values in Nature.
Q:What’s the role of photo logging in biodiversity conservation?
A:Photo logging is a brand new way to protect biodiversity for the previous recordings are only scripts on paper, where the public may not have a full appreciation of biodiversity and its significance. Photographic investigation in biodiversity can make up for the lack of images in the past scientific activities, bridging the gap between science and the public.
Q:As a photographic esthetician, what do you think is the esthetic value of nature?
Pure visual esthetics consists of colors, lines and organic textures. However, the colors of Nature are far richer than those in the paintings, giving us an infinite sense of beauty and improving our appreciation to esthetics.
Q:What’s your top fun in photo logging biodiversity?
A:The biggest fun lies in the moments when you got something fantastic and unexpected upon entering a forest or grass land. Some painters or photographers frequently moaned that they were getting through a “bottleneck” period, not knowing what to take or paint. But such dilemmas do not occur when you are in nature, where beautiful beings are here and there and you have no time to moan.
