When a quake came to a barber shop in Jiangcheng Hani and Yi autonomous county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er city, a boy who was having his hair cut remained calm, ignoring the hair dressers’ rushing out with panic.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 occurred at 22.33 degrees north latitude and 101.69 degrees east longitude on December 24. The epicenter is in the Yot Ou county, north Laos’ Phongsaly province, only 4km from China.

So far, 10 Jiangheng residents have said to have been injured from the quake. None was killed in the border county.

Preliminary estimates show the quake has caused an economic loss of 450 million yuan in Jiangcheng and its neighbor Simao district.
