Wild ray-finned fish found in Dali

Two wild schizothorax yunnanensis were discovered in Eryuan county, west Yunnan’s Dali Bai autonomous prefecture. DNA analysis showed that they are 99% matching with the existing data base for schizothorax in genetic order.

 Endemic to Yunnan, Schizothorax yunnanensis mainly distribute in the middle of the Lancang river basin, involving the Erhai lake, the Mijuhe river, the Jianhu lake and others.

Schizothorax yunnanensis is a species of ray-finned fish that lives in water bodies at an elevation of 1,250-2,500 meters.
