Black bulbuls first seen in Pu’er cherries

Updated:2022-01-07 18:36:05

Just after the arrival of the new year, a group of black bulbuls came to the cherry trees at a tea garden in Simao district, southwest Yunnan’s Pu'er city.

Now is the blossom season of winter cherry. Even black bulbuls were stunned by the beauty here. The birds croaked on the branches, flying around the cherry trees.

The bulbul is a medium-sized bird with red beak and feet, and forked tail. They either look black all over, or black but with white heads.

As a migrant bird, the bulbul is often seen living in areas south of the Yangtze River.

Zhang Baolin, a local photographer, said it’s the first time for him to see the black bulbul this year.
