Mountain road takes 68 Z-turns in Yiliang

Updated:2022-01-10 16:56:37

The video shows a mountain road with 68 turns in Yiliang county, central Yunnan’s Kunming city.

Within 6.3 kilometers, the road section winds its way from the town to the mountain top, connecting the county seat and the Jing'anshao village. It was listed as a most popular road by Chinese transport authorities on January 4.

The continuous turns were designed in 1995 to save the cost of road construction. The average distance between the turns is said to be only 100 meters.

Because of the hairpin turns, any oncoming vehicle on the road has to turn about 180° to continue running.

So far, the road section has become a popular site for hikers, cyclists and photographers.
