Hi, Kunming: Rare snow exhilarates Kunmingers on auspicious day
A rare snow storm stroke Yunnan’s capital city, Kunming on Tuesday, Feb 22, 2022, and the date was also the 22nd day of the year's first month on the Chinese lunar calendar.
With so many "twos", it was considered as an auspicious day, because 2 sounds like "love" in the Chinese language.
Known as “spring city”, Kunming is famous for its mild weather. In winter, it rarely snows in Kunming.
The dropping temperature didn’t stop Kunmingers’ joyfulness of celebrating the arrival of snow.
A wave of showing the pictures of all kinds of snowmen and sceneries crammed the moments on Wechat, the most popular Chinese social media.
The Beijing winter Olympics just closed two days ago, so the snowmen in the shapes of Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon are still trendy.
Citizens also created some hilarious snowmen with their hands, showing their excitement on first snowy day in the Chinese year of tiger.
