Tibetan village thrives in northwest Yunnan

Recent years have seen worldwide hikers come to the Yubeng village in northwest Yunnan’s Diqing Tibetan autonomous prefecture.

As a result, local villagers began to thrive on opening inns, supermarkets and restaurants, without leaving their hometown for jobs in the city.

Hidden in the snow-capped mountains of Meili, Yubeng used to be a remote place. For a long time, villagers there made a living by planting highland barley and wheat or raising animals.
