A pig-tailed macaque was spotted in Nakeli scenic area of Ning’er Hani and Yi autonomous county, southwest Yunnan’s Pu’er city a few days ago.
Local zoologist said the monkey belonged to the northern pig-tailed macaque and it was the first time to be seen in Ning’er.
With less than 1500 inhabiting south Yunnan and southeast Xizang autonomous region, the rare macaque has been put under first-class state protection in China. It is also found in Bangladesh, India, Laos, Myanmar, and more.
