Kunming bus launches express delivery service
Buses full of packages left a traffic hub in the north of Kunming city, Yunnan’s provincial capital on March 1, kicking off local bus involvement in urban logistics.
Joining hands with Kunming Express Company in launching logistic services, Kunming Bus Group became the first Yunnan bus company to participate in express delivery.
In recent years, bus passenger flow in Kunming has declined because of the COVID-19 outbreaks, the online-hailing taxis, subways and bike sharing. To mitigate the effect, Kunming Bus Group rolled out delivery service that covers 1,400 square meters and handles 40,000 pieces per day.
Some 200 express companies are certified in Kunming, employing about 30,000. In 2021, the express delivery volume of Kunming exceeded 500 million pieces, with the gross revenue reaching 4.976 billion yuan.
