Born in a mining area in Kunming’s Dongchuan district, Guo Wenrong has been interested in mountain climbing since his childhood, conquering the 4,017-meter Guniu peak and the 4,344-meter Xueling ridge in central Yunnan scores of times.

Standing on Xueling one day, Guo set forth the plan to climb Mt. Qomolangma, and he later succeeded in ascending to the peak from the southern slope in Nepal. This year, he conquered the Everest via its northern slope in China.

After the application was approved by the General Administration of Sport of China in March, Guo they trained for 20 plus days at the base camp.

“If you’ve got a dream, just take action and go for it,” said Guo, who has prepared for this adventure since last October. “I’m lucky to have been received by the Everest.”
