Maple Festival to be held in Yiliang, NE Yunnan
The First Maple Festival of Xiaocaoba is scheduled to be held in northeast Yunnan’s Yiliang county between October 26 and November 10.
A number of events and public activities will take place during the festival, including fairs of food and farm products, photo contests, bonfire weekends as well as concerts.
Covering an area of 163 km² in all, the Xiaocaoba Ecological Tourist Zone is located at the crossroad of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan – the three southwestern provinces of China – with a roughly equal distance of 450 km to each of their capital cities.
Xiaocaoba is primarily characterized by its outstanding biodiversity and picturesque landscape. Over 1,300 species of wild plants and animals have been found in its forests so far. Rivers, waterfalls, valleys, streams as well as colossal trees that spread across the tourist zone make it an ideal place for excursion all year around.
And autumn is the time to appreciate myriads of maple leaves falling down from trees and covering the entire ground. This oil painting-like scenery is expected to attract crowds of tourists and professional landscape photographers.
